About LAP

The Legal Analyst Program was founded in July 2025 by Matthew Smith, Joaquin Heredia, and Hannah Fisher with a simple goal: to give students the opportunity to work with attorneys on meaningful legal projects while using that work to support the community through partnerships with legal aid and other community organizations.

Since its founding, LAP has blossomed into a full-fledged legal consulting organization that works with three partners: Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, Community Legal Services, and Three Rivers Legal Services. Through these partnerships, LAP has contributed to projects involving domestic violence, juvenile advocacy, nonprofit formation, relative caregivers, driver’s license reinstatement, business unit reorganization, and more.

LAP is the perfect program for students who want to gain real legal experience, strengthen their law school applications, and make a meaningful impact on the community. In fact, it is the only student organization at the University of Florida that gives students the opportunity to complete legal work and work directly with attorneys on a weekly basis.

Legal Research
Students conduct issue spotting, case and statute review, and produce clear, concise research used by real attorneys and legal‑aid partners.
