No. Students from any academic background may apply. Because LAP is an intensive, professional program, we have preference for applicants who demonstrate genuine interest in the type of work we do.
Do I have to be in the Business Law Society to apply for the Legal Analyst Program?
No. However, we do consider demonstrated interest when selecting analysts. Attending BLS events, engaging with our community, and connecting with leadership can strengthen your application.
What can I do to stand out on my Legal Analyst application?
We look for applicants who can excel in real professional environments. Strong candidates typically show:
-
Professionalism and maturity when working with attorneys and partner organizations
-
Initiative, reliability, and the ability to go above and beyond
-
Leadership potential and a growth mindset
-
A solid academic record and clear interest in our program’s mission
-
Anything that demonstrates responsibility, communication skills, or analytical ability will help you stand out.
What is the time commitment for the Legal Analyst Program?
LAP is a rigorous, hands‑on program. Analysts should expect to commit a minimum of 3–5 hours per week, with some weeks requiring more depending on project deadlines.
If I get accepted into the Legal Analyst Program, will I be considered an intern?
Yes. While not every partner organization grants formal internship status, all analysts receive internship designation through the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, regardless of their assigned project.
